Spiritual oils have many uses. The main use is to shift our energies, and remove blockages to our elevation. This is my belief.
Each oil created is attuned to the energy it is made for and imbued with intention. The Orisha Babalou Aye is known as the Patron of Illness, Small Pox in particular, however any life-threatening illness falls under this orisha's domain. While Babalou Aye can mete out punishment in the form of illness, on the flip side, he can heal any illness, as well. This is why Babalou Aye is so loved around the world. He is a great healer and a presider over life and death. In olden times, Babalou Aye's priests were very well regarded for being highly effective healers/doctors.
In addition to curing illness, Babalou Aye represents compassion and humility. Babalou Aye was a human of rater questionable values, and little integrity. He was spiteful, vindictive, vain and quick to anger. He was cast out for his bad qualities (and for trying to give the other orishas small pox for laughing at him). After a long time on his own, he understood the human condition and became the benevolent, compassionate fatherly figure many devotees see him as. Babalou Aye is also an orisha to ask for mercy, and forgiveness. He helps one to heal the ills of the body, mind and soul thereby effectively helping people work on key foundational aspects of themselves, and their personas.
In the Santeria tradition, Babalou Aye is associated with St Lazurus, a Catholic saint often seen with crutches, in the presence of dogs, and is often shown with sores consistent with leprosy.
While working with Babalou Aye on his veneration day (the day worshipers honor this orisha), December 17th, Babalou Aye showed me an oil he wanted me to make and leave with him as his candle burned. I listened, gathered the ingredients and left the oil with him.
This Babalou Aye Healing Oil is a divine mixture of herbs, plants, crystals, flowers and intentions for healing the mind, body and spirit.
But, how exactly does one use this oil?
This oil is very much an anointing oil, and a dressing oil. It is skin-safe as the base is extra virgin olive oil -- nourishing in its own right.
If you have an object, or talisman, that you would like to use for healing, or for a specific purpose, you can anoint the object/talisman with this oil. Here are more examples of how you can use this healing oil.
* Create a healing wand using a selenite wand, or another crystal of your choosing. Anoint the wand with the Healing Oil and set your intentions into the wand. Use this wand only for the purpose originally intended. You can make more wands for other purposes.
* Anoint a piece of your jewelry with the Healing Oil to imbue Babalou Aye's energies into it so you carry his energy with you whenever you'd like.
* Apply the Healing Oil to any part of your body that is injured. Place a small amount in your hands, rub vigorously, praying/asking Babalou Aye to bring ease and well-being to the area you apply the Healing Oil. [If you know Reiki, you can do some healing work on yourself using this oil to amplify the effect.]
* Place a few drops on ashed over charcoal to infuse the scent and essence of the Healing Oil into the air.
* Add a few drops to a diffuser/aromatherapy unit while meditating.
* Dress you candles with this Healing Oil to bring Babalou Aye's energies into your ritual work.
* Dab some of this Healing Oil on your wrists and under your nose to remind you of the healing/work/intentions/affirmations you are working on with Babalou Aye.
* Add some of this Healing Oil to your spiritual bath(s).
* Add some of this Healing Oil to you mop water to spread Babalou Aye's energies throughout your home.
I hope you enjoyed these ideas, and thoughts, about how to incorporate Babalou Aye's energies into your liffe using this oil.
Marefun Babalou Aye!
