Oya, Orisha that has Dominion over the cemetery

In many traditional practices, you must pay to get in, and out, of cemeteries to ensure you do not bring anything out with you that does not belong with you.

To pay, you can throw a handful of coins at the front entrance and ask Oya, or whatever deity it is in your tradition, who has dominion over the cemetery. And, on your way, you throw another handful of coins.

In both offerings, you ask for her/his permission to enter/leave. Let them know what you've come to -- AND why.

Once you leave, make sure to have something to clean yourself/your aura off -- some bread, some fruit, some crystals, etc. With the produce, throw away in a garbage at the crossroad/crosswalk and do not look back. All the while as you clean yourself (passing the produce/bread all over your body making sure to pay attn to your chakras) you ask the deity to remove anything that does not belong with you; to cleanse you, and your aura of anything negative from the cemetery; ask that the deity pull away anything she/he sees belongs to it and its cemetery.

In many traditions, going into a cemetary is not a thing to do without thought, and planning.

To find out more about Oya, here you go.

Best to you in all you do. Z.
